Yes! That’s right! It’s time for everyone’s favorite convention, GeekGirlCon! And, like we do for all of our favorite conventions, we’ve got special events leading right up to it for all of our participants coming into town and looking to get into the spirit early!
pop wow

Starting with Geek Girl Trivia on Thursday night featuring a range of geek and girl related topics and one of your last chances to actually win GCC passes just for knowing stuff!

Then, on Friday, after you’ve set up your booth and are ready for a late lunch and/or early drinking (Hey, we’ve all been there. The Raygun is a Judgement Free Zone, okay!) our friends from Runic Games are setting up their Hob Happy Hour for you featuring four stations of play and food and drink specials for all GCC pass and ticket holders! Say, did I mention that we have pizza?!

And, on Saturday Morning, well, what we call morning and most civilized folks call “noon,” we’ll be hosting our Ixalan Draft Day featuring great women-officiated play against fun, accepting, local players from a range of genders and ethnicities that, as a thank you for briefly leaving the Convention Center proper, is $5 off for all GCC pass holders!

Plus! Beer, pizza, espresso, pinball and so much more, every day from noon to 11pm (1am on Fridays & Saturdays!), all just a short walk away from the convention in our amazing all ages space in Seattle’s historic Capitol Hill Neighborhood!

Welcome to PAX!

Though PAX is indeed amazing. And massive. And filled with everything that you love and are interested in. You may still find yourself wanting a little break.

PAXies
Break? Break from what? Whatever could he be talking about?

And when you do, we’re just a short walk away in Seattle’s legendary Capitol Hill neighborhood.

rainbow crosswalks
A mystical land where all the crosswalks are actually rainbows!

And, just like PAX,* we’ve got everything that you love and are interested in here too as well, like and gaming, special guests, pinball, draught beer, pizza, and Dennis Rodman’s favorite sandwich, the Grilled Kimcheese! No, for real. We really do have those. Bolt invented them. They’re frickin’ good too. I know. I wouldn’t have thought so either. But they are.

Say, did I mention that we’re ALL AGES?!!??!

ALL AGES!

Or that we’ve got all your other favorite stuff too, like , espresso, and cocktails?

Heck! This Saturday night, September 2nd, we somehow even got permission to do a free screening of Rise of the Planet of the Apes in our private back lot. Which, if I’m following it’s trailer correctly…

…is actually a remake of 1972’s Conquest of the Planet of the Apes

…thus possibly making it the greatest film of all time, ever, period. I don’t know. But we’ll find out together this Saturday Night!

Can’t wait to see you there.

*Okay. How, “just like PAX,” we are is totally up for debate. But we do have lots of games.

Fall is upon us. No really, it is. Think of the clouds as a warm fluffy blanket covering the earth and keeping you and everything around you warm, snuggy and well watered and you’ll do just fine with it.

And with this changing of the seasons, comes our new schedule…

every-day

…and new food…

food

…and drink menus;

drink

all designed by the incomparable Zan Christensen as part of our collaboration to provide the Northwest Press a permanent retail presence and administration space on our beloved Capitol Hill (kind of like that Subpop/Fantagraphics joint down in Georgetown except weh mehr kewler).

THRER GEHRMS FER HERLF ERF!

FALL SCHEDULE

In addition to being open 2 – 10pm EVERY DAY (what what!), we’ll still also be open until Midnight Friday and Saturday night and open at noon every Saturday for our usual drafting as well as this weekend’s upcoming Kaladesh Prerelease (Slots still open! Come by, call in, or email us to reserve yours now!).

FALL MENU

We’ve gone hyperlocal, national, and international in our quest to bring you the best options possible this season and are excited to bring you:
pizza
SODO Pizza
Located in the most rustic corner of Sodo that you are never gonna find without a seasoned guide, Sodo are the real deal. They’ve been working with local bars like ours in Seattle for years now and they know what’s up. They prep and par bake all of our delicious personal pizzas for us so we can bake them off fresh in our oven and provide you hearty meals featuring both vegetarian and gluten free options.

Moonlight Mead
We’ve been carrying mead from the very beginning and, frankly, we’ve taken a few wrong turns. It wasn’t until we found this New Hampshire based meadery that we knew we’d found our match. Moonlight strikes that very difficult strike balance between classic fermentation and innovative recipes that slaps and caresses us right in our palette. Our fall seasonal Moonlight Mead menu includes black cherry, blueberry, black currant, Sumatran coffee and, our most popular, ginger vanilla, by both the glass and the bottle for your sipping pleasure.

cidra-2
Maeloc Spanish Cider
Lest it weren’t obvious from their love of mead and our growing hard soda selection (now featuring Orange Cream!), our customers tastes run a bit on the sweet side, which is why it came as no surprise to us at all when they took strongly to what may well be the sweetest cider we’ve ever tasted, Maeloc’s legendary Sidra con Fresa, or as we call it stateside, Strawberry Cider. So we are super excited to be partnering with them bring in our very first tap for it this fall, thus making us, as far as I know without having done even the slightest actual research into the subject, the only venue in our entire city serving Spanish Strawberry Cider on tap.

So come on out and try some of the great new food and drink items that we have for you today (I didn’t even mention these amazing new deep fried peanuts that we have!). We’re an all-ages retail gaming space in vibrant Capitol Hill with spacious tables, an open gaming library and a great menu for you and your friends. We have frequent public events, reservable tables and event space rental options to serve whatever food, drink or gaming needs you have. We look forward to seeing you soon.

While we to allow the to become all ages so we can move into it we’re still going strong at both locations.

Which means it’s another great weekend filled with great special events!

It all starts off on Friday with our monthly Indie Dev Meetup, a night to see and show the city’s hottest in-development games when host Alex Schearer invites the brightest and best designers to, “Put down your keyboard […] grab your laptop […] and get feedback from other game makers.”

On Saturday, our indie game design weekend shifts from computer to tabletop when we host Seattle’s very first Unpub Event featuring completely brand new games from some of our region’s top designers. Our legendary weekly Magic drafting will still be in effect (M15, $15 buy in, prizes for top 3) but will be limited to 1 pod of 8 at noon and 4pm to make sure that we have room for this important event.

On Sunday, we shift back into our classic schedule with all of our regular weekly and bi-weekly events like Star Wars X-Wing with Rebel Leader Dylan Holmes and Elder Dragon Highlander with Legendary Commander Arcades Sabboth.

Y-Wing Attack

So again, come on down to the lounge for a beer, some pizza, and the best tabletop gaming experience in Capitol Hill.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
